DC Sentinels provides a meeting place for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender (LGBT) and non-gay basketball athletes. We foster an environment in which basketball is a fun and exciting means of fellowship for individuals. We strive to promote excellence, integrity, and good sporting conduct. We believe basketball can be used as a tool to create lasting relationships between people from all walks of life.
The goals of DC Sentinels are :
- to develop a cohesive basketball team that is competitive for athletes
- to represent our nation's capital in tournaments around the world
- to create a gay-friendly environment for individuals
- to help our sponsors grow their business
- to be proactive and accountable in carrying out our mission
- to emphasize teamwork for all participants
- to actively promote and encourage participation in the sport of basketball
- to provide a sport environment which promotes mutual respect, understanding and the principles of Fair Play
- Mutual respect for each other, and a commitment to excellence, innovation, integrity and quality in everything we do.
